  for those active jws, there is a new program in place where publishers who frequent and 'witness' on apostate websites will receive triple time!

  that's right, for every hour you spend on an apostate site you may count three hours (hazard pay) just let your service committee know you're interested in this new program and you may be approved to receive triple time!.

  I realize this is a six year old original post but I've been here some 12 years and have never heard of such a WT practice, where they actually endorse -- even encourage -- posting at apostate sites. Yes, BOC, I also realize it may have been a one-and-done event. Is this a current practice?

  By the way, congratulations on your uni achievement that you posted about a few days ago.

  yes, your cult has been banned in russia.

  what surprises me is that this hasn't happened in more countries.

  what surprises me is that civil suits in the u.s. haven't flooded the courts -- violation of civil and human rights because of the cruel act of shunning of disfellowshipped ones, even members of one's own family.. discrimination is a form of cruelty and civil and human rights define such.

  Discrimination is a form of cruelty and civil and human rights define such. And shunning, in my humble opinion, is a very close relative to discrimination.

  It's not just the shunning that individual members practice against their fellow ex-brothers and ex-sisters -- that is merely the result of being ordered by "mother" (the governing body). If they don't shun then they, themselves, will be the subject of scrutiny, possibly brought into a hearing with the local kangaroo court.

  Shame, shame -- Watchtower, JW.ORG, and other appropriate synomyms.

  Disfellowshipping decision to go before Canadian Supreme Court

  high court will examine whether judicial review applies to membership decisions made by religious groups.

  the supreme court of canada has agreed to hear an appeal involving a calgary man who was kicked out of his jehovah's witness church.. randy wall, a real estate agent was "disfellowshipped" from the highwood congregation for being drunk on two occasions and allegedly verbally abusing his wife.. as a result, he says his clients refused to do further business with him, so he argued his property and civil rights were affected.. after losing three internal church appeals of his expulsion, wall made an application with the court of queen's bench in calgary which ordered a hearing to first determine if there was jurisdiction for the court to hear the application.. decisions and appeals.

  a judge decided the superior court did have jurisdiction to hear the application.. the church then appealed wall's decision to the alberta court of appeal, which upheld the court of queen's bench, affirming the court has jurisdiction to hear the matter.. one of the three appeal court judges dissented — arguing that congregations are private organizations akin to bridge clubs, whose decisions "are not enforceable promises and have limited, if any, impact outside its small circle.".

  Wall told the panel his behaviour stemmed from stress related to the expulsion of his 15-year-old daughter who he and his wife were required by the church to shun.
  The congregation had already kicked the teen out of the community and as a result, even though she was a dependent child living with her parents, the family was pressured to evict the girl from the home, leading to "much distress."
  At the meeting, Wall admitted he'd been drunk twice that he'd verbally abused his wife once.
  The judicial committee found Wall was "not sufficiently repentant" and he was disfellowshipped, a decision that then compelled his wife, children and other Jehovah's Witnesses to shun him.

  I thought I've been keeping up-to-date on Watchtower's shunning regulations but the above quotation leaves me puzzled.

  I can't fathom where parents would be required to shun a 15-year old child -- unless that child was no longer living inside the home.

  Nor where the family was pressured to evict a 15-year old child from the home.

  Nor where wife and children could be compelled to shun the husband and father -- unless they didn't live under the same roof.

  for several weeks i've been treating myself to a hot chocolate milk (well, soymilk) before bedtime.

  some 16 oz soymilk which i heat on high in our microwave oven.

  this is just enough time where the liquid begins to bubble along the top edge.. i then take it out of the microwave and place it on my kitchen gram scale, stir it good enough to redistribute the heat, then reset the scale to zero grams.. next, i squeeze in the hershey's sytup, "special dark mildly sweet chocolate" (fat free) into the warmed soymilk till the scale reads some 30 grams.

  Yes, soymilk is mostly water and what you say makes sense. While the only time that bubbles appear is before the first weight measurement, the two subsequent heatings raise the temperature considerably.

  For several weeks I've been treating myself to a hot chocolate milk (well, soymilk) before bedtime. Some 16 oz soymilk which I heat on high in our microwave oven. This is just enough time where the liquid begins to bubble along the top edge.
  

  I then take it out of the microwave and place it on my kitchen gram scale, stir it good enough to redistribute the heat, then reset the scale to zero grams.
  

  Next, I squeeze in the Hershey's Sytup, "Special Dark Mildly Sweet Chocolate" (fat free) into the warmed soymilk till the scale reads some 30 grams. (That's slightly more than 1 ounce for those of you more comfortable with ounces)
  

  And this is where it gets interesting. I stir that luke-warmed mix till the color is uniform and ready for the 2nd heating -- then read the scale. The 30 grams has now dropped to 29 grams.
  

  I put the mix back into microwave and punch the 30 seconds button, take it out and place it on the scale and stir again to even out the heat. Yikes! The scale now reads 27 grams.
  

  Back into the microwave and punch the 30 seconds button. This is the final heat so I take it out, place it on the scale and stir. The scale now reads either 27 grams or 26 grams.
  

  That's a 10 to 13 percent weight reduction -- and to this physics novice, a total mystery.
  

  Any thoughts -- while I relax and sip on my yummy treat?
